When working close-by to stormwater drains with liquid pollutants or in the event of a spill, drain protection should be deployed. Envirosmart offers SpillSmart Drain Seal as one suitable option for these situations. It provides temporary protection to prevent hazardous liquids from entering the drain. The polyurethane construction is soft and malleable and creates a dependable seal on most surfaces. Drain Seal is also compatible with oil and hydrocarbons plus a wide variety of harsh chemicals.
In the event of a spill, take the SpillSmart Drain seal out of its custom PVC storage carry bag. Remove the protective plastic sheets and place either side of the seal over the stormwater drain. If time permits and is safe to do so, press the edges down around the drain seal. This product is not designed to be driven over as the weight of a vehicle compressing the seal into a grate will damage the polyurethane material.
After the spill has been cleaned up, SpillSmart Drain Seal can be used again.
Simply:
- Remove the Drain Seal from the grate
- wash with warm soapy water
- allow to dry
- reapply the protective plastic sheets
- store in the PVC storage carry bag provided, in a cool dry area
